Find a micronutritionist in Switzerland

What does a micronutritionist do?

Micronutrition is the study of micronutrients: vitamins, minerals, trace elements, essential fatty acids and amino acids. They don't provide energy, but your body needs them for almost everything, from your nervous system to your skin. A micronutritionist looks for shortfalls or imbalances and tries to correct them, starting with food. The consultation starts with a detailed food assessment and questionnaires about your energy, sleep, digestion and mood. The practitioner may also use blood tests prescribed by your doctor, for example for iron, vitamin D or vitamin B12. Micronutrition is a specialisation, not a regulated profession in Switzerland. It's most often taken up by dietitians, pharmacists, doctors or naturopaths as continuing education. GutUp shows both: the original profession and the micronutrition training.

Why see a micronutritionist?

The most common reasons: • Tiredness that won't go away, even with decent sleep. • Digestive problems: a fragile gut can also limit how well you absorb nutrients. • A restrictive diet (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free) that you want to make sure covers your needs. • Weight management when standard approaches haven't worked. • Times of higher need: intense training, pregnancy, menopause, long periods of stress. For example: you eat fairly well, but you feel drained by the end of the day and you're often cold. A micronutritionist will look at your iron, protein and vitamin B12 intake, how you cook and what you drink with meals. They don't diagnose. If they suspect a significant deficiency, they'll send you to your doctor for tests.

Every expert listed on GutUp holds at least one verified qualification: ASCA or RME registration, an HES degree in dietetics, a private certification of at least 150 hours, or a file approved by GutUp. Since micronutrition is not a regulated title in Switzerland, GutUp checks and displays each practitioner's core profession and training on their profile. Listed experts are GutUp partners (a commercial relationship), not a medical endorsement.
