Find a naturopath in Switzerland

What does a naturopath do?

Naturopathy aims to support the body's own capacities through natural means: diet, plants, lifestyle and stress management. The first session usually feels like a long conversation, with a food assessment and questions about your sleep, energy and digestion. The naturopath then puts together a personalised plan and follows up over several sessions. On training, Switzerland introduced a federal diploma in naturopathy in 2015, with four branches: traditional European medicine, Ayurveda, homeopathy and traditional Chinese medicine. It takes several years of study and practice. Many practitioners are also registered with ASCA or RME. Worth knowing: the title 'naturopath' used alone isn't protected by federal law, unlike 'dietitian', which requires an HES bachelor's degree.

Why see a naturopath?

The most common reasons people book: • Unsettled digestion: bloating, irregular bowel movements, feeling heavy after meals. • Ongoing tiredness, even though you sleep enough. • Poor sleep or waking at night because of stress. • Weight management with a broader approach than food alone. • Food sensitivities you'd like to understand better. A typical case: you've had poor digestion for months and you're sleeping badly. A naturopath will look at both together, adjust your evening meals, perhaps suggest a herbal tea and review your bedtime routine. They don't replace your doctor. If a symptom is unusual or doesn't go away, they'll refer you.

Common questions

Every expert listed on GutUp holds at least one verified qualification: ASCA or RME registration, a federal diploma in naturopathy, a private certification of at least 150 hours, or GutUp validation on file. Since 'naturopath' used alone is not protected by federal law, GutUp checks and displays each practitioner's actual qualifications on their profile. Listed experts are GutUp partners (a commercial relationship), not a medical endorsement.
